15 questions

Which sections of the manual should I read to get the most out of my machine?

It will be necessary for you to read the manual fully in order to get the most out of your machine.

Why am I only getting milk from the frother?

Page 23 of the manual suggests that you may have the frothier knob in the wrong position if you are only getting milk and not frothing.

Or you may need to clean your machine, review the descaling instructions in your manual.

How often should I clean the frother?

Page 22 of the manual is the starting place for the frothier. Please note that it recommended daily rinsing of the frothier to eliminate issues.

How do I clean the machine?

Page 26 of the manual discusses cleaning of the machine. It is necessary on a regular basis. You may want to consider once a week or once every two weeks to eliminate build up in the brewing unit, etc.  There was a small brush included with the machine to help you with cleaning out the brewing unit completely.

We also recommend getting a small brush pictured below with aiding in cleaning out the tubes.

DO NOT USE VINEGAR as this will destroy your machine.

See below photo of examples of cleaning agents that you can use. They can be found anywhere online, or local stores.

I cleaned the grinder, but it still seems blocked. What should I do?

Please see attached samples of a blocked port, on how to clear out the blocked port. The port opening can be done after trying the grinder cleaning program, before or after.

Access is through the pre-ground coffee opening at the top. To make it easy, use a small, curved brush like a small straw brush or something to get down and at a right angle into the port opening to pull any blockage out. It’s only about an inch inside that square port opening you can see in the photos that needs to be cleared. See the extra bean-grinder cleaning guide.

Why are the coffee pucks in the coffee waste bin not solid like what was demonstrated?

This depends on your coffee beans and style of coffee.

Why are there coffee grounds in the wastewater bin?

This is normal so it is nothing to worry about. This should be dumped daily or after use to keep your machine clean.

This can occur and is nothing to worry about. This should be dumped daily or after use to keep your machine clean.

The “Empty Drip Tray” message remains after I empty the tray. What should I do?

Switch the machine off, unplug it and let it cool. Following your model’s manual, remove the drip tray and its removable components, wash them and dry them thoroughly inside and out.

Use a slightly damp paper towel to remove coffee residue from the accessible drip-tray compartment, including the bottom, sides, back and upper surfaces. Do not pour water into the machine. Dry the compartment completely, then reinstall the tray and components.

Leave the machine unplugged for approximately 10–15 minutes before reconnecting it. If the message returns, contact Redfern with your model name and a photo of the display.
